Some General Photos...

In addition to the various travel adventures captured below, I've captured a few general pictures of the city life in Bangkok in this section

Here is an incredibly busy intersection between my apartment and school. This is the corner of two major roads (Sukhumvit and Phayathai) -- traffic can often be backed up here for 10-20 mintures.; the two paths of the Skytrain are merging above the road. It's taken awhile to learn this craziness, but that's all part of the city life...

A river canal that runs right near our apartment. Though quite smelly, this has proven to be one of the more effective means of transportation ...especially to the southern end of the city

A fine lunch that I decided to splurge on one day during my travels -- Thai-style fried Sea Bass and Prawns.

The Democracy monument --
We drove by this during a democratic holiday earlier this week, and there were multiple democratic rallies taken place -- very reminiscient of what I can only imagine you may have seen in America in the 18th century. As best as I can tell, the Thai government is set up as a democracy with the small nuance that the king must approve every major appointment. In undemocratic fashion, the Thai military often chooses to overthrow a regime (i.e. a coup) without letting the democratic course take action. This happened as recently as September, but it seems to be part of their process.

some friendly gambling on the side of the road ...oh btw, at 8 am!

A view inside one of the river canal boats I mentioned earlier. They pull the blue sides up to prevent any of the overly polluted water from splashing in.

Another form of river transportation on one of the more major rivers...
